1 dead, 5 injured in fatal road traffic accident

By BBN Staff: At midday yesterday, police visited an area between miles 59 and 60 on the George Price Highway.

There, officers observed a white Ford Escape on its side across the highway with extensive damages. 

Initial Investigation revealed that, Didier Novelo, 28, was driving the vehicle from the direction of Belmopan to San Ignacio Town when upon reaching between mile 59 and 60, he lost control of the vehicle which caused it to overturned several times. 

In the vehicle at the time were Joslie Jhonson, 20, who sustain body injuries and Lelany Chan, 12, who sustained multiple body injuries.

They were both transported  to the Western Regional Hospital where ,Lelany Chan succumb to her injuries while Johnson was in an unconscious state. 

Four other persons who were inside the vehicle at the time have been listed in a stable condition at the San Ignacio Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle has since been detained pending investigation.

Police investigation continues.
