Man shot in knee by police dies

BBN Staff: A man suspected of committing a robbery with a knife was killed by police out west.

Police say the complainant reported that he was robbed by a Hispanic man near the football field in the Arizona area of Teakettle Village, Cayo.

The complainant and police visited the area and saw the suspect, identified only as Jose.

Instead of submitting himself to police, the alleged robber reportedly ran.

A police officer set chase and the suspect fell into a barbed wire fence. According to the official police report, the officer also fell in the wire fence and his forearm accidentally fired a single shot hitting Jose in his right leg.

Jose was transported to the Western Regional Hospital and later died from the injuries received.
