Fire at Michael Finnegan Market

BBN Staff: Yesterday around 12:50 p.m., Belize city police visited the corner of Hicattee Street and West Collet Canal, where cops saw stall #6 of the Hyde building engulfed in flames.

Alvin Oswald Coleman, 62, a businessman of the Hyde buildings was alerted of the fire and reported it.

The stall was occupied by Pearl Usher, a 52-year-old businesswoman who used the stall to sell apparel.

The fire was extinguished by Fire Personnel. It was completely destroyed by fire and water. The value of the stall and its contents are yet to be ascertained. The cause of the fire is not yet known. No-one was injured.

The building is insured and police are investigating.
