Dynamite explodes in Santa Elena, Cayo; Police at the scene

BBN Staff: BBN has received reliable reports about a dynamite explosion in an area of Santa Elena Town, Cayo District.

According to reports, a foreigner was in the process of breaking down a hill using a dynamite but the explosion did not go as planned.

There are confirmed injuries but we are unable to determine how many people were injured.

The explosion was heard all over San Ignacio and some houses in the vicinity may have sustained damages.

Other reported feeling tremors from the explosion.

A BBN reporter is currently at the scene.
