By BBN Staff: On Saturday evening around 5:55, police responded to a report of a traffic accident on the George Price highway.

The body of a man wearing a helmet was on the ground also in the middle of the road just a few feet away from the pickup truck.

Police investigations revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling from the direction of Belmopan toward San Ignacio and the Wingle was traveling in the opposite direction when upon reaching Camalote Village near mile 50, they collided head on.

The driver of the motorcycle was knocked to the ground.

Winston Gordon,45, lab technician was driving the Wingle.

At the time, Gordon was accompanied by his children Alexie Casimiro, 19, and two other minors.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries and succumbed at the scene.

His body was then transported to Western Regional morgue.

The deceased was identified as Leonte Ampie, 39, of Unitedville.

The Skygo motorcycle did not appear to be insured nor had any headlights.

Ampie was pronounced dead on arrival at Western Regional hospital.

Urine samples were taken from Gordon.

Gordon was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.

 Police Investigations continue.
