Roaring Creek to get new bridge

BBN Staff: This morning, a contract was signed for the construction of the new Roaring Creek Bridge located at Mile 48 on the George Price Highway.

According to a release from Government’s Press Office, the scope of the works includes the construction of the new bridge along with the approaches and drainage works to a total length of 485 meters.

“Also included is roadway clearance, the removal of any remnant structures, obstructions, fencing and the like within the road reserve; earthworks; construction of a reinforced concrete bridge, approaches, roadside barriers and runoff channels; the installation of road center and edge line markings,” the release states.

 

The Ministry of Works says that increased traffic loads, infrequent maintenance, city and business expansion and the unpredictable effects of several tropical storms and hurricanes, it saw it crucial to replace the bridge.

 

The construction contract was awarded to M & M Engineering Consultants Ltd in the amount of BZ$11,346,823.17 to carry out the construction of the bridge.

It is anticipated that works will commence immediately and will bring much-needed relief to motorists and residents.

The supervision of the work lies with IMC Worldwide, supervising for the Ministry of Works.
