By BBN Staff: Two men were busted in the Buttonwood Bay area of Belize city by police yesterday and were found with five kilos of cocaine, an unlicensed .9 mm pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Edward Broaster, police intercepted the white Toyota 4Runner on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. The names of the men are being withheld until they are charged and arraigned in court.
According to Broaster, “This was as a result of a sophisticated operation. We had surveillance on the two suspects in a cafe where they were discussing this said drug transaction. And as a result of the combined efforts of the anti-narcotics unit, the Special Patrol Unit and the Mobile Interdiction Team, we were able to apprehend these suspects with the cocaine and the firearm.”
