By BBN Staff: Police have just released details of another fatal road traffic accident over the Christmas holiday.
According to reports, shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Roaring Creek Police arrived at the scene of an accident between miles 42 and 43 on the George Price highway in Cotton Tree village.
There, officers saw a Hispanic woman lying on the median of the highway convulsing in pain. She was later identified as Linda Carolina Hernandez, 33.
The motionless body of a Hispanic man was also seen lying on the left shoulder of the highway with severe head injuries. He was later identified as Oscar Rene Alvarado, 24.
Alvarado was pronounced dead on arrival at the Western Regional Hospital. Hernandez died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The scene was canvassed and some 200 feet away in some bush, police found an extensively damaged red and silver 2016 150CC Skygo motorcycle.
The hood ornament of a Volkswagen car was also found on the scene. According to police, both Alvarado and Hernandez were traveling on the George Price Highway on the Skygo motorcycle towards Belmopan when they were rear ended by an unknown vehicle, which then fled the scene.
Police investigations continue.
