First US extradition request for a Belizean Attorney

BBN Staff:  The United States is seeking to extradite a prominent Belizean Attorney for his alleged involvement in money laundering.

As far as BBN is aware this is the first extradition request by the US for a practising Attorney in Belize.

According to a report from 7 News, the request for extradition was received last week.

The Attorney was allegedly involved in a scheme to launder millions of dollars through the sale of a local advertising business.

The person whom the Attorney was to support in the money laundering scheme was an undercover agent of the United States government.

Today the Solicitor General, Nigel Hawke, confirmed to Love News that an extradition request for the Attorney has been received by the Belize Government.
