By BBN Staff: People’s United Party (PUP) Leader, John Briceno, following yesterday’s House Sitting, at which Prime Minister Dean Barrow presented the first reading of the UHS Appropriation Bill, criticized the government’s approach to the matter and vowed to find a solution to resolve the UHS saga.
Briceno called out the Prime Minister, saying he “continues to do his legal dance” and added that even with the continued legal advice “…whenever he goes to court he loses.”
“What is of concern now means that there is going to be another round of legal wrangling about the constitution and whether parliament is supreme and so forth and obviously more UDP lawyers are going to be benefiting to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees,” Briceno said.
He added that the PUP would take the time until the debate to study th bill and discuss a way forward.
“One thing I can tell you is that we are not going to be obstructing this. We are going to find a way where we can come with some ideas and recommendations to the Prime Minister in an effort to find a settlement that can be to the benefit of the Belizean people,” Briceno said.
