7.8 magnitude Earthquake shakes Honduras; felt in Belize

BBN Staff: The United States Geological Survey has reported that around 9:00 tonight, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Honduras.

The powerful tremor struck about 125.4 miles north, northeast of the coast of Barra Patucca, Honduras.

A tsunami advisory has been issued for Puerto Rico, British Virgin Islands and the Virgin Islands of sea level fluctuations and strong ocean currents that could pose a threat along coasts, beaches and harbors.

The US Geological survey is also reporting that monitoring is being done to further evaluate any tsunami threats.

The tremor was felt in several parts of Belize.
