Police man charged for manslaughter of Mario Vernon

Posted: Tuesday, January 16, 2018. 2:58 p.m. CST.

By BBN Staff: Mario Vernon Jr., 24, was shot in the head on Sunday night by a police man.

BBN has been reliably informed that the officer has been charged for murder and will appear in the Dangriga Magistrate Court this afternoon.

Police had said that Vernon was armed when he was shot and that his weapon was also found.

However, multiple eyewitnesses have said that he was unarmed and was shot in the back of the head and not at the side as police had previously reported.

Sources to BBN have suggested that the officer who shot Vernon was as a result of a personal grudge.
