ABC7 News revisited the case on its broadcast today. “There are still no suspects, no known motive and no justice in murder, and only the calendar has changed since she was found dead one day after going missing from the equestrian resort in Belize where she had gone horseback riding,” ABC7 reported.
Last year, FBI agent Paul Clark told ABC7 that authorities believed the public in Belize may have information about the person who killed Swaney. To date, however, no information has been forthcoming and the investigation has seemingly stalled despite the $20,000 reward being offered.
Swaney had come to Belize on vacation, as she had done before. She reportedly loved to visit Belize. But one day after she was reported missing, she was found strangled, floating in the Mopan river.
ABC7 noted that several resort employees were questioned and provided DNA but said even though two FBI agents were sent to assist, it is the Belize Police Department leading this investigation.
