PUP postpones National Convention due to inclement weather

Posted: Saturday, January 27, 2018. 3:27 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The People’s United Party (PUP) had planned their national convention and rally to be held on Sunday, January 28, in  Belize City.

Today, the PUP issued a release informing supporters that the convention is being postponed for a second time.

The PUP had initially planned their convention to be held in November 2017 but it was postponed to January.

The PUP says that the postponement this time is due to inclement weather.

The new date for the Convention will be Sunday, February 11, 2018.

This morning, PUP Caucus leaders met with the forecaster on duty at the Belize Met Service, and were advised that many areas in the South and West are already experiencing worsening conditions as a result of incessant rains.

The party says that it has been advised, also, that a flash flood warning will be issued by midday today for the entire country, and that the rains are expected to continue through Sunday.

The party says that it was not an easy decision since supporters were already mobilizing for the event.

The PUP advises that Belizeans heed the warnings of the Met Service which will be issued and ensure that they stay safe and as dry.
