Guatemalan fishermen arrested for illegal fishing in southern Belize

This morning, NICH issued a statement informing that two rangers have been officially declared missing in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve .
Late Monday evening, Park Manager Luis Ramirez and Park Ranger Elroy Villanueva went on an existing trail and did not return.
The statement said that after noticing their prolonged absence, the remaining rangers headed towards existing campsites in search of the men and alerted the BDF.
In an effort to continue the search, a team which included the BDF, Tourism Police and staff of the Institute of Archaeology were assigned to search the reserve area.Although the inclement weather conditions hindered the process, the rescue efforts continued.
The police and families of the respective rangers have been notified of the situation.
An intensified search of the Chiquibul Forest Reserve continues today with additional manpower and relevant security forces.
