PM Barrow: UDP deserves to be re-elected

Posted: Saturday, February 3, 2018. 10:11 am CST.

BBN Staff: Prime Minister Dean Barrow, following the launch of the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) City Council manifesto, told the media that his party, based on their record, deserves to be re-elected.

“The record is such that in fact the United Democratic Party deserves to be re-elected,” PM Barrow stated.

Barrow, responding to a question on whether he believes his party can maintain or increase their hold on 62 of the 67 municipal seats across the country, said: “If I were to say we can hold on to all we have and in fact can increase the number, you would accuse me of perhaps being arrogant.”

“…To a greater or lesser degree, that is the case countrywide and I feel that we are able to replicate the previous performance…” he added.

Barrow also said of his imminent departure from politics, that he has yet to come to an agreement with the party on a time-line for his retirement and selecting a new leader heading into the 2020 general elections.
