PUP holds National Women’s Forum

By BBN Staff: Today, women that pledged support to the opposition People’s United Party (PUP) converged at the Belmopan Civic Center for their first ever Women’s Forum.

The event brought together women from across Belize and women experts in different fields who made presentations on health, law, education and women leadership.

The presenters were Dr. Diesy Mendez, who spoke about Women and Health in Belize. Dr. Candice Pitts presented on women and education. Former government minister Dolores Balderamos Garcia presented on women and law and PUP executive member, Carolyn Trench Sandiford presented on women and leadership in Belize.

PUP Party Leader John Briceno pledged to support women in Belize and in his presentation, urged women to become active participants in the decision making process of Belize.

Women were encouraged to embrace their power and to empower each other.
On March 7, 18 women from the PUP will be contesting as candidates for the Municipal Elections.

Over 200 women attended the event.
