By BBN Staff: Canadian fugitive, Jordan Bacchus, who is wanted for murder in Belize, was nabbed during a drug raid in Ontario, Canada last Friday but may not face justice in Belize just yet as he is also yet to face the courts for a string of other crimes in Canada.
Toronto police say he will first answer to charges in Sudbury, then further charges in Toronto for armed robbery, extortion and other charges before he can be extradited to Belize to face the murder charge.
Bacchus is the prime suspect in the May 2016 murder of Belizean athlete, Melvin Almendarez, who was found dead on a feeder road in South Ambergris Caye. Almendarez had been shot and run over by a golf cart. Bacchus had been detained by San Pedro police for drug charges but was released on bail. By the time a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with the murder, Bacchus had already fled the country.
