By BBN Staff: According to reports from Guyanese newspaper, Demerara Waves, Chief Justice of Belize, Kenneth Benjamin, is being appointed as   Chancellor by Guyana President, David Granger, despite rejection from the opposition leader in that country.

Reports surfaced weeks ago indicating that Benjamin would be taking up the position in Guyana. Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, however, has told the media that GOB has received no such indication from Benjamin. He added that as far as he is aware, Benjamin will remain Chief Justice here in Belize.

According to the report from Demerara Waves, the opposition leader in Guyana has not stated his reason for rejecting Benjamin’s appointment as Chancellor.
