Two people shot in Orange Walk town

BBN Staff: Two people were shot last night in Orange Walk town by a gunman who entered the store they were in and opened fire.

According to police, Amin Mendez Jr., 24, and Jessica Melendez, 20, were inside Aminci’s store at the corner of Liberty Avenue and Boundary Road when a gunman entered and shot Amin to his lower left leg. The bullet exited at the back of his calf.

Jessica suffered a single gunshot wound to the left side of her right knee.

The gunman then fled the area.

Amin and Jessica were treated at the Northern Regional Hospital for their injuries and released.

 Police investigations continue.
