By BBN Staff: Almost a month after 26-year-old Andy Rhaburn allegedly murdered his mother, Braulia Pech, 53, by bashing her head in with a crowbar, he has been charged but for a different offense.
Rhaburn, who had been recovering at the Northern Regional Hospital from a gunshot sustained during his police capture, faced charges yesterday for the attempted murder of Lilia Xujur. Rhaburn had attacked Xujur after he killed his own mother. He was additionally charged with use of deadly means of harm for that incident.
However, to date, he has not been charged with his mother’s death. Police have indicated that they intend to bring charges against him for that incident at a later date. On January 16, Rhaburn allegedly bludgeoned his mother to death with a crowbar in Carmelita village, Orange Walk. He then escaped and spent a week on the run.
When police found him hiding in the outskirts of the village, cops said he attempted to attack an officer with a machete, which led to him being shot during his detention. Family members say that Rhaburn suffers from a mental disability and that his mother often had to call police to deal with his volatile behavior.
