Special Envoy’s office announces 20,000 Strong rally part 3

Posted: Tuesday, February 20, 2018. 9:15 am CST.

BBN Staff: The office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children, yesterday, announced the date for its next 20,000 Strong Women’s Empowerment Rally, which will be held under the theme #PressforProgress.

The rally is scheduled for Friday, March 16th, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex. The event will feature speeches from women from all walks of life, discussing various topics such as gender equality, entrepreneurship and domestic violence.

The rallies, coined by the SEWC Kim Simplis Barrow, started in 2014. The second installment was held in 2016, which drew a crowd of around 12,000. The organizers emphasize that the message behind the movement is more important than the attendance at the rally.

The event is done in collaboration with the National Women’s Commission (NWC), the Women’s Department and the Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation
