Last week during case management before Justice Michelle Arana,
Pitts’ attorney, Hubert Elrington, asked for the matter to be settled
via mediation.
Solicitor General, Nigel Hawke, agreed.
It appears that Vega will opt for mediation as well.
Vega and Pitts both received a
portion of land at mile 5 on the Philip Goldson highway although it
was privately owned.
Despite being told that the lands were privately owned, the government
of Belize still issued it to Vega and Pitts.
Thereafter, GOB reclaimed the parcels and handsomely compensated the two.
