The event, organized by Belizean-born author, Joey Garcia is the first of its kind to be held in the country. Garcia says she hopes the event will become an annual one.
Garcia is a writer for the Sacramento News & Review for the last 20 years and author of the book “When your heart breaks, It’s opening to Love”.
The conference will also include workshops and lectures from literary agents, Carrie Howland and Kate Johnson, both of Wolf Literary Services.
“The Belize Writers’ Conference is a juried writers’ conference held at an eco-retreat and offers inspiration to move your writing forward. Daily opportunities for yoga and meditation for writers will reset your spirit so you can write fearlessly from your deepest self. Panel discussions on the business of writing will prepare you to successfully market yourself and your book to agents and publishers,” Garcia’s website says.
“The conference includes five days of workshops, including critique sessions and Master Classes taught by Carrie Howland, Kate Johnson and Jane Anne Staw on nourishing your writing practice and building a fulfilling career as an author,” it adds.
