Belmopan mayoral candidates to participate in debate

Posted: Tuesday, February 27, 2018. 5:07 p.m. CST.

By BBN Staff: Following last week’s Belize City Mayoral debate, hosted by the University of Belize (UB), Mayoral candidates from Belmopan will also be participating in a similar forum hosted by UB.

The Belmopan city mayoral aspirants, incumbent United Democratic Party (UDP) Mayor Khalid Belisle; People’s United Party (PUP) hopeful, Tanya Santos; and independent Charles Leslie Jr., will participate in the forum to be held tomorrow, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Jaguar Auditorium.

The University had previously said the purpose of the forum is to provide an avenue for the University’s students to participate in the political process via discourse on key political and economic issues with current mayoral aspirants.

Last week’s Belize city forum was hailed for the public discussion between voters and candidates on relevant issues rather than party politics.
