Mexican Vice-Minister Visits Belize Today

BBN Staff: Today, the Vice Minister of Mexico for Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Alfonso de Alba will be in Belize.

His visit to Belize is for the presentation of the final design of the “México Sports Center” to be built in Belize City with resources from the Yucatan Fund – US$5 million and the signing of the MOU between AMEXCID (The Mexican Agency for International Cooperation and Development) and the Belize Ministry of Education for the program of 25 half scholarships for students of the Technical Secondary School Mexico (ESTM).

A ceremony will also be held for the unveiling plaques of the Olmec Head replica donated by the Government of Mexico to the Government of Belize.

De Alba has served as Permanent Representative of Mexico to the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C. (2016-2017) and is a career diplomat who entered the Mexican Foreign Service in 1983.

In 2001 he rose to the rank of Ambassador.
