By BBN Staff: A document with a list of names of high ranking police officers has been circulating on social media purporting to be a report from the United States Homeland Department, reportedly claiming that the officers are suspected to be involved in human trafficking and money laundering in Belize.
Several media houses in the country reported on the list circulating. However, the United States Embassy in Belmopan issued a release shortly thereafter stating that the allegations are baseless and that the Embassy has no knowledge of the document.
“The United States and Belize share a strong partnership and will continue to collaborate on initiatives to strengthen our bilateral relations and enhance citizen security in Belize and the region,’ the release stated.
