By BBN Staff: Marriott International, a hospitality company which manages 30 hotel brands in 122 countries, is set to open a new hotel in Belize in 2020.
Marriott’s new facility will be called “Alaia”, a boutique hotel being built in the southern part of Ambergris Caye under the company’s Autograph Collection. Marriott is partnering with San Pedro-based developer Andrew Ashcroft, current managing director at the investment and financial advisory firm Blue Caye Capital.
The groundbreaking for Alaia happened at the end of 2017. The facility will include 35 units, 56 two-bedroom condominiums and eight oceanfront villas, with a total of 155 keys. Unique features will include a beach club, a rooftop suspended pool, and a full-service spa. The property will also include a real estate component, with prices ranging from $349,000 to $1.3 million.
“Belize’s natural landscape is incomparable, and the real estate market is thriving. Alaia will bring a new opportunity with competitive prices for those to purchase or visit in a setting that speaks to the island’s modern twist on resort living, it’s lively laidback spirit, and individuality,” said David Hurst, Vice President of Sales for Alaia.
Marriott, which reported revenues of over US$17 billion at the end of the fiscal year 2016, manages hotel brands such as Regis Hotels and Resorts, Westin Hotels and Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance and Delta hotel brands among many others. The company is headquartered outside of Washington, D.C. in Bethesda, Maryland.
