By BBN Staff; The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) was evacuated on Wednesday evening after experiencing issues with the ceiling of the building.
The building is 25 years old. According to reports, a structural fault was found in the roof of the building.
The hospital issued a release informing that the KHMH is working in ‘Emergency mode’ and some key areas have been shut down including the Radiology unit, Operating Theaters, Central Sterilization and clinics.
The shut down came on Wednesday after rubble fell from the roof into the radiology unit.
Engineers were called into the hospital who concluded that work needed to be done immediately on the roof.
According to a report from 7News Belize, the repairs and measures are expected to last until March 26.
