BNTU announces National Rally this Thursday

Posted: Saturday, March 17, 2018. 1:10 pm CST.

BBN Staff: The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) issued a press release today informing that the union will be engaging in a march and rally on Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Belmopan.

The BNTU says that after consultation with their membership, they have gotten the mandate to plan and execute activities to show support to families and communities affected by the recent spike in heinous crimes against women and children.

The teachers will meet at 8am in front of the Belmopan Comprehensive High school and then march to the Belmopan Civic Center.

Guest speakers will highlight the objective of having proper measures put in place to protect Belizean women and children.

The union notes that it has sent out letters to managing authorities and will seek the blessing of the Ministry of Education by requesting a non school day.

However, the union’s plan moves forward with action in their first phase of their promised action with or without the support of their stakeholders in Education.

The union reminds that all activities are of a wholesome and peaceful nature and that all banners and chants must reflect it.

‘ Don’t be intimidated. Take action on behalf of our students and parents,” the release ends by saying.
