Protest happening on Mexican side of northern border

BBN Staff: According to reports, there is currently a protest being staged on the Mexican side of the northern border by a group of persons called “hormiguitas”, known contraband smugglers responding to efforts by authorities to clamp down on the illegal trade.

The hormiguitas, as they are known, have blocked one of the official entrances into the Mexican side of the border.

Customs officials from both sides of the border have been collaborating to combat contraband smuggling across the border as the illegal trade has flourished in recent years.

Reports indicate that the situation could escalate. BBN will have an update as more information becomes available.
