Slusher had been on remand for 5 years for the murder of police corporal, Victor Lima.
The incident happened in July 2012. Slusher was allegedly orchestrating a home invasion in Hattieville and broke into the home and held two women hostage while he searched the home.
Cpl. Lima and other police officers responded to the home and as Lima opened the door, he was shot in the chest and died days later.
The witnesses confirmed to the court that the burglar covered his head with a cloth but identified Slusher as a man they knew as ‘Peter’.
Slusher testified that at the time of the incident, he was at his step mom’s home and she corroborated his story.
According to a report from 7news, Justice Adolph Lucas did not believe the alibi evidence but neither did he think that the evidence confirmed his identity was sufficient.
Slusher was found not guilty and walked away a free man.
This is the second murder case he has beaten in the Supreme Court.
