By BBN Staff: On March 26, just as Belizeans planned to travel to different destinations for their Easter holidays, the Belize Bureau of Standards issued a release informing the public of the new hike in gas prices.
Premium, Regular, Diesel and Kerosene prices were increased. Premium saw a 15 cent increase, Kerosene went up by 24 cent, Diesel went up by 25 cents and Regular went up by a whopping 43 cents. Belize Electricity Limited has also made a submission to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) seeking a rate increase on the prices of electricity. BEL is requesting a 7.1% average increase in the Mean Electricity rate to 39.54 cents per kilowatt hour from where it stands now at $36.92 cents to kilowatt hour. On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, the Belize Bureau of Standards issued another notice informing that butane prices will now be hiked as well, the new prices take effect today.
