Social media, email, and telephone history may soon be required for US visa applications

BBN Staff: Thousands of Belizeans may soon be affected by a new visa application policy proposed by the United States of America (US).

According the Associated Press, applicants may soon be required to submit their social media histories, previous email addresses, and phone numbers whenever they apply for a US visa.

Previously, a review of these items were only done for applicants identified for extra scrutiny.

The Associate Press article explains that this proposed requirements may not affect the US closest allies like Canada and persons from visa waiver countries like Australia, South Korea and some member states of the European Union.

However, countries like Mexico, China, India, Belize and Brazil will be directly affected.
