By BBN Staff: The Belize Book Industry Association (BBIA) is calling on authors, publishers, and book lovers to look out for a week’s worth of activities this month.
The BBIA’s book week is scheduled for next week, with activities such as storytelling, cultural presentations, copyright workshop, face painting, book repair workshop and a literary evening where writers read aloud to the public.
The festivities will also include the launching of the books for the 2017 winners of the Belize Literary Prize competition, at the Image Factory on Thursday, April 19. The week will also mark the launch of the 2018 competition, where Belize writers at home and within the diaspora can enter literary works in line with the theme, and win cash prizes along with getting their work published for free.
The BBIA hosts two sets of activities each year: one in an alternating location, and the other in San Ignacio, where the association was founded. This year the activities will be held in Caye Caulker on the 18th of April and at the Cayo Welcome Center in San Ignacio on the 20th and 21st of April.
