Gang member charged for delivery truck heist

BBN Staff: On Friday afternoon, an armed man held up a delivery van in the Cohune Walk area of Belmopan.

The culprit took off with over $24,000 in cash.

Police were called to the robbery shortly after and set chase after the gunman and driver in a getaway vehicle.

The vehicle lost control and flipped around mile 26 on the George Price highway and police caught the two suspects.

One of the culprits was shot to the leg.

Yesterday, Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino of the Crimes Investigations Branch (CIB) informed that the quick response by Belmopan and Hattieville police resulted in the detention of Shane Harris, 27.

Harris has been charged for robbery.

Police recovered $5,000 of the stolen money.

Ferrufino stated that the investigation is ongoing to recover the balance of the stolen money.

At the time of the incident, police arrested two people. However, only Harris was charged.

Harris is reportedly a known member of the George Street gang.
