BBN Staff: A senior representative from the Ministry of Local Government has confirmed to BBN that Punta Gorda Mayor, Ashton McKenzie, terminated 9 employees at the Punta Gorda Town Council.

According to the senior official, the terminations came last week and involved a mixture of senior and junior level employees.

We understand that the terminations come in light of the council’s effort to downsize.

The terminations were done with due process, said the senior representative.

Mayor McKenzie was elected to office on March 7th after defeating the PUP’s Carlos “Obeah” Galvez.
