Man killed in early morning shooting in Ranchito Village

BBN Staff: This morning around 12:05, Corozal Police were called to a bar in Ranchito Village, Corozal District to investigate a murder.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw the body of a man lying on his back with a single shot wound to the right shoulder.

The person was identified as Ivan Emmanuel Sosa, 38, of Ranchito Village.

Police investigations revealed that around midnight the proprietor was closing the establishment and exiting along with Sosa when a masked man stood at the door and pointed a sawed-off gun at the proprietor.

Sosa then intervened by trying to prevent the man from entering the establishment and that was when he was shot and killed by the culprit.

The gunman then ran across the highway in the nearby bushes and escaped.

Police investigation continues.
