Yesterday, over 1.7 million voters of Guatemala’s 7.5 million registered voters voted in the National Referendum to take the long standing claim on Belize’s continental, insular and maritime territory to the International Court of Justice.
The referendum saw a 24% voter turnout in Guatemala and 95.87% voting ‘YES’ to taking the territorial dispute between Belize and Guatemala to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
