BBN’s Person of the Week – Julie Zelaya of Roam Belize

By BBN Staff: Julie Zelaya is a single mother of two children. She started working when she was sixteen years old and today runs one of the most successful tour companies in southern Belize.

According to Julie, she had a hard time working and studying while still managing to be a full-time mother for her children.

She told BBN that she managed to finish school while working and paying for the educational expenses while earning a minimum wage. Beating the odds, Julie says she worked through many jobs juggling work and school and successfully ticking her goals off her list.

Today, Zelaya has blossomed into a successful entrepreneur venturing into the tourism industry in Belize.

She built her own tour shuttle service – Roam Belize based in Southern Belize.

Julie is now a licensed tour guide and managing director of the business.

“Roam Belize started with a small dodge caravan van and over the years and with hard work, dedication and offering exceptional service, Roam Belize has grown to be one of the top tour companies in Belize focusing on Southern Belize,” Julie informed our news team.

Julie is now a member of the Dangriga Belize Tourism Industry Association and says that she is committed to community development and making a big dent not only in the tourism industry but also the country of Belize.
