NEMO assists storm and fire victims

Posted: Tuesday, April 17, 2018. 2:54 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Minister of National Emergency Management, Edmond Castro was on Ambergris Caye yesterday where he visited families affected by an out of season storm that affected that area this past Sunday, around 6:00 a.m.

Three families, whose dwellings and belongings were damaged by the storm, have since received humanitarian assistance through the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).

While on the island, Castro  and his team also took the opportunity to visit and thank local business owner, Brittany O’Daniel, who has been a consistent donor in assisting NEMO and victims of disaster on the island.

Last week, NEMO also delivered humanitarian assistance to three families in Crique Jute, Toledo, who were similarly affected by a freak storm in that village on Wednesday, April 11.

While he was in Toledo on Friday, Castro also delivered humanitarian assistance to a family in Elridgeville, whose home was recently damaged by fire.
