By BBN Staff: BBN has been reliably informed of yet another major shakeup in the Belize Police Department.

According to a senior ranking official in the department, Commissioner of Police, Allen Whylie, has received notice that his time in office has come to an end.

Our source revealed that he has been given a two-week notice.

And so who will then assume his position?

Reliable information to our newsroom is that Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, will be the new ComPol.

Williams was appointed Deputy Commissioner with responsibility for Operations just weeks ago.

Williams, a career officer, had just returned to the department as south side commander in 2015 after completing his legal studies abroad.

After serving as south side commander, he was then appointed to the post of Director of the Police Professional and Standards Branch.

While Williams has an estimated 25 years in the department, his soon to be predecessor, Whylie, has an estimated 30 years.

Our newsroom was unable to contact ComPol Whylie for a comment.
