By BBN Staff: After almost two years on remand, accused rapist and robber, Adam Meighan, has been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court of Belize.
The thirty-one-year-old Ladyville resident was charged in December 2016 after a woman told police that he ambushed her.
She reported that she was walking on Manatee Road when Meighan approached her with a machete and demanded that she hand over her handbag.
After the woman did so, Meighan forced her into some nearby bushes and raped her.
On Tuesday, the unrepresented Meighan was committed to stand trial in the June session of the Supreme Court by Magistrate Khadeem Palmer.
