By BBN Staff: A Dangriga resident was shot by police over the weekend.

Fortunately, he is alive and receiving medical attention.

According to sources, on Saturday Jessie Lopez, 23, was hurling rocks at an officer on Commerce Street in Dangriga town.

It is uncertain why he was attacking the officer but he refused to stop when he was warned.

As a result, the officer drew his service weapon and fired a single shot hitting his right leg.

Lopez is listed in a stable condition and will face charges when he recovers.
