Belize’s Attorney General attends anti-corruption conference in Taiwan

BBN Staff: The Attorney General of Belize, Michael Peyrefitte is currently in the Republic of China (Taiwan) attending a three-day international conference on anti-corruption.

Peyrefitte was invited to participate in the seminar as Belize’s Focal Point for the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

Three other Central American nations namely Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, along with the Dominican Republic were also invited to attend.

At the launch of the seminar, Peyrefitte met with H.E. Dr. Tsai Ing-wen, President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Peyrefiite gifted President Tsai with an artisan handbag designed and crafted by the Maya women of Belize.

The AG emphasized the importance of Belize’s friendship with Taiwan, and Belize’s commitment to battling corruption.

While in Taiwan, Peyrefitte will also be meeting with other Taiwanese dignitaries including the Minister of Justice, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Director General of the Agency Against Corruption.
