Mason back in court for kidnapping charges; His attorney says his constitutional rights were violated

Posted: Tuesday, April 24, 2018. 10:16 am CST.

BBN Staff:Yesterday, infamous William ‘Danny’ Mason along with his 5 employees appeared in the Belmopan’s Magistrate Court to answer charges for the alleged kidnapping of a Mennonite couple that happened in 2016.

Mason and his co-accused were represented by Attorney Herbert Panton.

In court, Panton requested that the kidnapping charges be dropped for insufficient evidence; however, Prosecutor, Sergeant Bonifacio Rash submitted that the statements given by the Mennonite couple were enough to amount to a prima facie case. Panton further argued that there were conflicting statements and conflicting identifications which violated the constitutional rights of his clients.

Last year in February, Mason and his co-accused also answered to charges to the 2016 murder of Pastor Llewellyn Lucas.

Mason was arrested by police when he was driving around Belmopan City with Lucas’ head in a bucket that was inside his vehicle.

The magistrate will issue her ruling on the case on May 7, 2018.
