Fire destroys unoccupied buildings in Toledo

By BBN Staff: Last night two buildings were completely destroyed by fire in the Toledo District.

According to reports, Punta Gorda police responded to a house fire in Big Falls village and upon arrival, they saw a two-story cement and wooden structure with zinc roofing and a bungalow structure constructed from cement and mesh wire with thatch roofing completed destroyed by fire.

The Alcalde of Big Falls, Bonifacio Tut reported to police that the owner of the buildings is out of the country and the value of the buildings and appliances are unknown.

The cause of the fire is unknown and it is also not known if the buildings were insured.

Authorities are investigating.
