Tapir found dead

BBN Staff: According to reports, about two weeks ago, a tapir was found dead on the side of the George Price highway near Burrell Boom.

Apparently, the mountain cow was knocked down and left to die.

Wildlife and tapir lovers have since raged on social calling for the public to protect Belize’s precious wildlife.

On Saturday, Belize celebrated World Tapir day, appreciating the life of Belize’s National Animal and the largest mammal in the Central American region.

The World Tapir Day organization says that all tapir species face the threat of extinction and saving tapirs helps to save rain forests and other habitats.
