Three to be charged with drug trafficking after fatal road traffic accident

Posted: Tuesday, May 1, 2018. 6:56 am CST.

BBN Staff: Police say that once Jermaine Michael Sanker, David Morrison, Diana Sutherland are physically capable, they will be charged for drug trafficking in connection with a bust made over the weekend following a fatal road traffic accident on the Phillip Goldson Highway.

The trio remain at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, having sustained severe injuries in the accident, which also claimed the life of 38-year-old Hattiville resident Anthony Sommerville.

The group were involved in an accident around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 29, as they tried to escape from the Police Quick Response Team (QRT), which had set up a checkpoint at the intersection of the Phillip Goldson Highway and Burrell Boom.

At the scene of the crash, which happened around mile 17, police found several packages adding up to 21 kilograms of marijuana.

Police say there is a parallel traffick investigation going on, and if it is determined that Sommerville died as a result of some negligence on the part of the driver of the vehicle, then the driver will face charges in respect to Sommerville’s death.
