Guatemalan drowns in Mopan River

By BBN Staff: Yesterday around 1:22 p.m., police visited the Mopan River Bank across from an area known as Plantain Patch, where cops found the body of Juan Antonio Segura, 78, a Guatemalan national of Barrio El Arollito, Melchor De Mencos Peten, Guatemala.

Police investigations revealed that Segura was attempting to cross the river to go back to Melchor but experienced difficulty while swimming and drowned.

His body was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The body awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police are investigating.
